Hopscotch-ed

There is a world out there..its virtual..but everyone is on it...everyone tells you whats on their mind..everyone is following someone..there are selfies and hashtags and tweets and tumblrs. And then there are those out there doing one of the sacred things in life ..SHOPPING!!
Now there are two kinds of shopping i do online, especially for my little one. Its either a need based purchase or 'i want to be indulged and pampered' shopping. For the former, i resort to the well know firstcry.com or babyoye.com. they both pretty much have everything a baby needs. They arrive rather promptly in brown boxes with the contents neatly wrapped in bubble wrap. to the point. precise. cold. The only one excited to see these containers is my maid who promptly starts bursting the bubbles, quite literally!
But then it happened, one random Facebook moment, in the dead of the night..struggling to keep my eyes open while my baby nursed, i grabbed my phone to see what people were up to in the virtual space..that is the only place where someone or the other is always awake..the internet never sleeps! Thats where i met hopscotch.in, they were totally in-your-face, promptly showing me the number of friends from my friend circle giving it a 'thumbs- up'. Curiosity took the better of me and i clicked it!
The website seemed interesting, lots of boutiques, well known brands, expensive price tag..and then..SALE..click click!! now we were talking..very cautiously stuffed my cart when from the corner of my eye i saw that i would get 1500 bucks on sign up. stuffed up some more. placed order before rational side of my brain could catch up. The products arrived in two days. Major guilt set in again. why did i do this?, i say to myself as i tear the black poly bag..and then, the moment that made my guilt vanish..inside the bag, is my package, wrapped in a matte mint green wrapping paper, sealed with a note saying ' Thank you for shopping with us. We hope you love your purchase - Lisa & Rahul' that was not the end of it.. since christmas was around the corner, they also sent Christmas bells with a seasons greetings note! No website had ever paper wrapped my purchases before..no one had sent these cute thank you notes..no one had made me feel so special for being there..on their website! it was like the beginning of a love story..


Lisa and Rahul - you guys held me right there. going that extra mile, for raising the bar of online shopping..i keep returning to you and you never disappoint me!
